Shock Value Enterprises is at its core a Boston-based digital content creation studio that promotes healthy cultural diets, publishes science fiction stories featuring diverse global cultures, and designs prolific apparel for indigenous parents. As a futurist creator, I invite you to celebrate the rich heritages we come from and all the places we can go through decolonization practices.
The main reason indigenous peoples are where we are in society is because of our (in)ability to digest what is fed to us.
We need more access to clean land, water, food and cultural media so that our community can be self-sufficient.
We contribute to equitable storytelling for indigenous parents, representing a multitude of cultures from around the world in food, film and forum. The elders and parents in the indigenous communities of the world are vital to the planet's health because of what and how we teach our children.
It starts with how we identify ourselves and the standards we have for each other. Collectively, we have much more power when we let go of the most negative influences on our community and work together. Our pride is our greatest industry, our unity is our greatest strength.
In this life, I am a Bajan and Cape Verdean-American man, born and raised in Boston, MA. My personality type aligns most with the traits of a Logician (INTP-T); my Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Futurism, Empathy, Connectedness, Adaptability and Ideation. I've been blessed to be able to travel in and out of the United States from a young age so I was raised with an appreciation of the world's best, most unifying qualities. For the same reasons, I'm also highly aware of its worst, most divisive qualities, which is the raison d'etre for my brand. Whether it be linguistic, historical, performative or culinary arts and sciences, I want my people to be informed and inspired to change the world for the better.
To build a circular economic standard that radiates from the multicultural indigenous communities living in Eastern Massachusetts to the rest of the country and beyond.
Shock Value is about intergenerational education, appreciation and social solidarity through various forms of storytelling for the longevity of Earth-based peoples and cultures.
Until we as a people can come back together fully in support of each other and the planet we live on, we will struggle to understand our places in this very alienating society. Shock Value is a growing community, based in Boston, MA, of small businesses built to preserve the continuous exchange of indigenous knowledge and practices outside of colonial systems and spaces.
I honed skills in linguistic, psychological, engineering, musical, culinary, political, astronomical and biological sciences from the time I was 7 years old, and I found a love for martial arts, creative writing and hospitality along the way. As I got older and started to pay attention to how people interact in my city, I came to the realization that there is a lack of basic self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability in my community, of course by design. Once I graduated from my high school, I moved to Virginia to pursue a career as a psychologist, but I switched to Studio Arts after my first semester in college. I practiced cinematography, sculpture and other mixed media during the day and at night I worked in hospitality/food service. In the summers I did internships in live music entertainment and film production until the pandemic happened. Devastated by the state of the world but determined to still change it, I made a vow to myself and to the Earth that no matter what, I would make sure indigenous cultures are properly represented with Shock Value.
I will be sending exclusive updates including limited edition merchandise, blog posts, and more!
Welcome! Here I tell science fiction stories for multicultural indigenous peoples through taste, vision and sound from the perspective of an Afro-Caribbean American man in New England.
